A star screen is used for screening out bulk material. The pitch between the stars and the number of fingers on the stars determine the fraction that is screened out. The screen is delivered in various standard widths, namely: 600, 800, 1000 and 1200 mm.
The coarse screen is used for separating out coarse pieces of material, such as steel, stone and wood. The use of large stars means that coarse pieces can be easily conveyed over the screen deck.
